BANG RONG

In the North East parts of Phuket we find the Muslim community Bang Rong with 1.000 inhabitants of whom 800 persons get their lively-hood directly from the Mangrove forest. There is also real jungle and the 15 m high waterfall, highest on Phuket, together with The Gibbon Rehabilitation Project. From the pier you can take ferries to the near by island Koh Yao Noi. The villagers have succeeded to close down illegal prawn farms in this area after many years of fighting to preserve the nature.
